Yesterday, writer Tallie Rose took to Twitter to air grievances over her book being rejected from a publishing company for not aptly understanding the LGBTQ+ community.

Rose wasn’t reinforcing stereotypes, though the book contains adult content, per her own words.

What was made clear in her own social media profile, however, is that she is bisexual, and thus, a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

As of now the original tweet has around 80k likes.

Screenshots posted by Rose detail a letter from their CEO, Meaghan Hurn, in which she threatens to sue for “slander” (which is really libel, since it is written).

The publications private response to the viral tweet.

Rose, however, posted the original rejection letter for evidence afterward, which certainly backs up her claims of them believing bisexuality does not fall under LGBTQ+ representation.

The company states, “The writing alone is clear that you’re writing about a community that you aren’t a part of and that’s a dangerous territory to be in, because the LGBTQ+ community will not appreciate being misrepresented. I encourage you to develop the story more and take the time to do more research on your characters so they can be represented correctly.”

The publisher’s Instagram page is currently private, and has not released a public statement.
